  • Flat lay of everything included in the ThermaGuard Pro de-icing kit

    1. Clip it along the roof edge

Snap the shingle clips on every 2 ft and run the cable in a zig-zag along the eave. No drilling, no roofing nails.

  • Heat cable installed in a zig-zag pattern along a snowy roof edge and gutter

    2. Run it through the gutter

Lay the cable along the gutter and drop it down each downspout so meltwater always has a clear path to the ground.

  • Close-up of the plug-in thermostat controller with power indicator on a winter day

    3. Plug it in and forget it

Plug the controller into any outdoor outlet. It switches on only when it's cold and wet, so you never touch it again until spring.

Before and after: ice dam and icicles versus a clear gutter protected by heat cable

STOP ICE DAMS AT THE SOURCE.

Ice dams don't come from too much snow. They come from meltwater refreezing at the cold edge of your roof until there's nowhere left for it to go but under your shingles. ThermaGuard Pro keeps that edge, your gutters and your downspouts just above freezing, so water keeps draining the way it's supposed to. The self-regulating core only draws power where the cable is actually cold, which is why it costs a fraction of old constant-wattage cable to run, and why it won't overheat where sections overlap.

    Do I need an electrician?

No. The controller plugs into a standard 120V outdoor outlet. If you don't have an outlet near the roofline, a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord rated for the wattage works fine.

Because the cable self-regulates, it only draws power on the sections that are actually cold and wet. A 120 ft kit typically uses 5–8 watts per foot when active, which works out to a few dollars per week during a cold snap and close to nothing on clear days.

No. The clips slide under the shingle tabs without nails or adhesive, and the cable jacket is safe on asphalt, metal and rubber roofing as well as aluminum and vinyl gutters.

Yes. The jacket is UV-stabilized, so most customers install it once and leave it. The controller simply stays idle through spring and summer.

Measure the roof edge you want protected and multiply by 2 for 12-inch eaves or 2.5 for 24-inch eaves. Add the length of the gutter run plus the height of each downspout. When in doubt, go one size up: extra cable can be looped, but a kit that's too short can't be stretched. You can also email us a photo of your roof and we'll size it for you.

Self-regulating cable can be trimmed, but the cut end must be sealed with the included end-cap kit. Most people simply loop any extra length inside the gutter instead.

Shipping is free. Kits are inspected before they leave the warehouse and arrive in about 2–3 weeks. You'll get a tracking number by email as soon as it ships.

Send it back within 30 days for a full refund, no questions asked. The cable and controller are also covered by a 2-year warranty against defects.
